Rhode Island

Find out how much you can save by going solar in the Beaver State

Want to lead Rhode Island's transition to solar energy?

Rhode Island might be the smallest state in the nation but it's doing some seriously big things in solar energy. If you haven't noticed yet, the stars have aligned in Rhode Island for homeowners to go solar. For starters, with traditional electricity prices about 30.0% higher than the national average, Rhode Islanders have been forced to spend an unfortunately large percentage of their annual income on electricity costs as compared to residents in other states.

As with every other state in the U.S., residents are eligible for the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). This means that you can realize substantial savings through solar ownership by deducting 26% of your system's price tag from what you owe Uncle Sam.

Furthermore, homeowners can lock in recurring annual payments from National Grid for up to 20 years for the solar energy they produce. We're happy to say that the need for cheaper energy has drawn some of the country's best solar companies to The Ocean State. The time is now to lower your bills and gain energy independence. The number of solar panel installations in Rhode Island jumped significantly in 2015 with the introduction of great incentives from local utility National Grid.

National Grid is the largest utility company in Rhode Island and now offers a great solar incentive through the Renewable Energy Growth Program. Under this program, National Grid has agreed to purchase all of the solar production (measured in kilowatt hours ("kWh") from your system at either 41 cents per kWh for 15 years or 37 cents per kWh for 20 years, which is one of the most generous programs in the U.S. This value is divided between on-bill credits which reduce your utility bill, and cash payments directly to your bank account.

Because of these PBI's, going solar is an absolute home run in Rhode Island (Go PawSox).

Solarize Rhode Island is local community program sponsored in part by Dividend Finance that makes it easy for homeowners in Rhode Island to go solar. With a strong push from the local government, National Grid, non-profit SmartPower, the Office of Energy Resources and Commerce RI, Solarize Rhode Island pairs homeowners with the leading solar installation companies in Rhode Island to make solar accessible and affordable for thousands of homeowners across the state. With great local involvement in Newport, Providence, Westerly and throughout RI, the Solarize Rhode Island team works with local municipalities and organizations to make Rhode Island a leader in solar.
